Camilla Granlien: Gjendine og Jørgine - fra Bøverdalen til New York

In this concert performance, we meet two fascinating and very different women from Bøverdalen in Lom: Gjendine Slålien was a dairymaid with an exceptional singing voice and became Edvard Grieg’s most important source of inspiration in Norwegian folk music – she was the one who taught him Gjendine’s Lullaby. Jørgine Boomer, on the other hand, was an adventurer who ended up in New York high society and hired the then-unknown Frank Sinatra to perform at the Waldorf Astoria.

Camilla Granlien is one of Norway’s finest folk singers. In this performance, she sings and tells stories about jazz and city life, folk music and rural life, about Gjendine and Jørgine – together with Alf Hulbækmo on piano and Mari Skjeie Ljones on fiddle.

Note: The concert performance takes place in the Auditorium at Litteraturhuset.
