Join our experienced Norwegian guides on this entertaining activity and scenery tour. The journey brings us through breathtaking landscapes before arriving at a stunning fjord embraced by the majestic Lyngen Alps.
This tour departs from the city of Tromsø at 10:00 AM. After a scenic drive of approximately one hour – enjoying beautiful mountains, fjords, lakes and valleys along the way – we will arrive in a small local village named Sjursnes.
This is an absolute gem of a location in a spectacular region overlooking the majestic Lyngen Alps and the serene beauty of Ullsfjorden. Weather permitting, you will truly enjoy the breathtaking views of this stunning Arctic landscape.
This seemingly untouched nature with the picturesque Lyngen Alps at its pristine heart, is going back nearly 400 million years. Here, our ‘Best Kept Secret’ is waiting for you to be told, explored and experienced.
While being mesmerised by the stunning scenery, we will get ready for our snowshoe hike. Don’t worry, it’s really easy. If you can walk (without mobility issues) you can snowshoe!
The hike will go through a small forest where we will check out animal tracks (moose, reindeer, fox, hare … to name a few), before arriving at an old-style Sami building named ‘gamme’. This location provides the perfect opportunity to learn more about the Sea and Mountain Sami and their traditional way of life.
The guides will entertain you with storytelling before, during and after the snowshoe hike - including Sami and Norwegian culture, the Arctic way of life, local history, wildlife, geology and any other topic our treasured guests might wonder about when visiting Norway.
There will be several photo stops during the hike.
Close to the ‘gamme’, we will set up our provisional outdoor camp. Here you will enjoy a campfire, snacks, hot drinks, further storytelling and fun facts from our guides.
Throughout the tour, your Norwegian guides will be very happy to answer any further questions you might have about the Arctic way of life, Sami culture, wildlife, history, geology and any other topics you might wonder about.
