Bunadburet at Bjerkem

At Bunadburet, Berit invites you to explore a unique collection of reconstructed folk costumes based on the clothing traditions of Nord-Trøndelag between 1750 and 1840. These bunads are the result of a thorough clothing documentation project led by Berit herself from 1988 to 1992. She spent four years mapping, recording and understanding how people actually dressed in this part of Trøndelag – a meticulous effort that today brings a rich cultural heritage back to life.
In addition to preserved garments, watercolour illustrations and other written sources have played an important role in documenting this tradition. These visual and textual traces provide a more complete picture of the clothing culture in old Nord-Trøndelag.
Lace, damask and a diverse cultural landscapeWhat sets these folk costumes apart from other Trøndelag bunads is their bold colours, patterned aprons and generous use of fabrics like damask and calimanco. Every detail highlights the diversity and distinctiveness of Trøndelag and the Innherred region.
