Ceramics course at Svea Gaard

Do you want a break from everyday life with a top-up of creative coziness and creative joy? Take friends on a weekend course or go alone. Svea keramikk has its premises in a pleasant newly restored storehouse, where it organizes pottery courses. In a 12-hour course, there will be teaching in turning, modeling in sausage technique, hollowing out technique. Different decorating techniques using: sponge, tape, paper, stamp, wax and more. Here you will have your own design made on cups, bowls and saucers.

The clay we use is earthenware and the "paint" is called begetting. The coating is applied to the clay when it is "lead dry" in the middle of the drying stage. The clay is white, good and elastic to turn with. When the ceramics have dried, a "fire" is set at 980* degrees, then transparent glaze is applied. Then a new "fire" is set at 1040* When the pottery has cooled, the pottery is finished.

This means that everything that is made is made of refractory material and can be used in your oven. Here you can impress your guests with home-made ceramic products for your next tapas dinner! How fun isn't that?
