Fishing in the Oslo Fjord


From 1 October 2025, new rules for recreational fishing in the Oslo Fjord applies:
- Only recreational fishing using hand-held gear is permitted in the Oslofjord.
- The number of pots that recreational fishers may use is reduced from 20 to 10 per person and per vessel.
- The number of pots that recreational fishers may use for lobster fishing is reduced from 10 to 5 per person and per vessel.
- Fishing for shrimp with pots is prohibited for recreational fishers.

Note: From 1 January 2026, fishing in the inner Oslofjord will be prohibited for both commercial and recreational fishers. The only exception is crab fishing with a line for children, which will still be permitted. For more information, visit the Directorate of Fisheries’ website (in Norwegian).
