Geiranger Sjokolade is the first chocolate factory in the world that operates from a boat house. Our trademark is «Fjordnær» meaning «fjordside» which is a pun on «jordnær» which means «down to earth.» All our chocolate is made from scratch, with no preservatives or additives. Chocolate production is pure craft. We cut the pieces instead of moulding them, to make the chocolate layers as thin as possible. Our philosophy is that taste should be paramount. We develop new chocolate recipes using our own taste buds. It takes at least three days from the filling is made in the kitchen until the finished chocolate is for sale in the shop. The ingredients for the filling are sourced in the local area as far as possible, but we also source exciting flavours in other countries. At the end of the process, the goodies are dipped in beautiful, dark chocolate – yum! Are you interested in seeing how we make chocolate? We welcome visitors to the boat house basement on booking and due to capacity. Come along if you are simply interested in seeing the production premises and learning about how we make our delicious chocolate, or if you are part of a group that wants to do more extensive chocolate tasting and delve deeper into the fantastic world of chocolate. Welcome!
