Round trip from Bergen to Folgefonna Ski Centre including 5-hour guided tour on the glacier Folgefonna.
Transport:
You can start this tour from the bus station in Bergen or from the quay in Norheimsund if you drive your own car.
From Bergen the bus takes you to Norheimsund and continues by boat from Nordheimsund to Herand. From Herad a bus takes you up Fonna Glacier Ski Resort.
Folgefonna is Norway’s third largest glacier and is covering a total of 200 square kilometres. From Folgefonna you have panorama view to the Fjord, Rosendal alps, and the North Sea in West.
Folgefonni Breførarlag, the glacier guide team, is waiting for you at the ski centre (1200 metres above sea level). On a guided five-hour hike you will have close contact with a unique natural environment and with the culture and history of this beautiful area.
The bus is waiting at ski centre after the hike, and takes you down to Herand quay from where you travel by boat to Norheimsund and the bus towards Bergen.
Experienced guides will adapt the glacier hike to the participant's wishes and conditions. Along with your fellow hikers you will get roped together to explore the ancient desert of ice. During the hike you will have stunning views of the North Sea and the Rosendal Alps. Along the way the guides will share information about the flora and fauna of the area. Your hike will be customized to your group's experience and athletic ability, and no matter the weather you'll have an incredible day on the mountain. In fact, the rain brings out amazing colors in the ice. The Folgefonna panorama glacier hike is second to none!
The trip starts and ends in Bergen, and includes a scenic Hardangerfjord cruise where you get to kick back and relax while taking in the scenery. The bus and boat rides are unguided, but don't worry, the transfers are seamless.
