Guided tour to the giant’s cauldrons at Rullestad
The giant’s cauldrons at Rullestad are a spectacular natural phenomenon that dates back more than 10,000 years. These naturally sculpted potholes in the rock have been shaped by water and ice across millennia. The area has recently been granted UNESCO status and is part of Geopark Sunnhordland.
Join an unforgettable guided tour and marvel at the stunning views on the way up to the plateau and at Jettegrytenuten, the site of the giant’s cauldrons. The tour follows the old road up Rullestadjuvet gorge before turning off at Skromme, leading through forests, and then ascending the rock layers. There is then a slight descent to another forested area before you climb some gentle steps to the first giant’s cauldrons. You can climb up and look down into the cauldrons. The route then continues, partly on a path and partly climbing steps, before reaching Jettegrytenuten at the top. It’s a wonderful place to take a break, admire the giant’s cauldrons and enjoy lunch before heading down the marked path towards the river, then down the old Post Road and back down along Rullestadjuvet gorge. It's a truly unique guided tour!
