At Haukali 333 in Forsand, close to the Lysefjord in Ryfylke, you spend the night surrounded by unspoilt nature.
By travelling back to 1850 they want you to experience the "old" sense of time. Everyday life in 1850 was a lot of hard work – but it was also beautiful in many ways – and calming for body and mind. Their ancestors lived here in Haukali, in what was called a "husmannshus" in Norwegian (translated to "Smallholder's cottage"). The same type of house and size as they have now restored and offer to their guests. In Haukali you will be surrounded by untouched nature and experience a unique lifestyle. They believe the atmosphere here will be a soothing relief for you.
Travel back in timeHaukali 333 wants to tell you some of the stories they have heard from their Grandfather, who lived to be 97 years old. He spent much of his life in Haukalia as a sheep farmer. They have learned a lot from their Grandfather and his stories. Knowing the stories of our past is essential for creating our future. You can borrow clothes likes 1850, take photo of yourself for good memories from Haukali 333.
Cook the "old-fashioned way"If you wish, they can prepare food and drinks in the Husmannshus upon your arrival. You can also order your meals; they offer a simple, but tasty local breakfast, and you can choose between 3 different dinner menus. More details and prices are available by email request. Or you can prepare your own meals; ingredients and recipes for making homemade bread are in the house and included in the price. If you are lucky, you can catch your own dinner in the lake.
Activities in untouched natureOn the farm nearby there are sheep, horses, chickens and a dog.
You have access to a small sandy beach and a small boat, and you can go fishing in the lake.
There are many great hiking opportunities in the area. From one of the peaks you can glimse Preikestolen on the other side of the Lysefjord.
Two manual bikes are included with the house, so you also have the opportunity to explore the area with the bike.
Close to major attractionsThe centre of Forsand and the Lysefjord, where you will find the nearest grocery store, is only a five minutes drive away. From the quay you can take the ferry or a fjord cruise into the fjord and experience famous attractions such as Preikestolen, Kjerag and Flørli.
It takes 15 minutes to drive to the start of the trail to Preikestolen, Norway's most famous rock formation, 20 minutes to Jørpeland and around 1 hour to Stavanger, through Ryfast, by car.
