Borlaug´s most famous attraction is Borgund Stave Church (1150), one of the best preserved stave churches in Norway. There are also excellent opportunities for walking and hiking in the area, e.g. on the old road Vindhellaveien (opened in 1793), many parts of which have a beautiful view. Norwegian Wild Salmon Centre is located i Lærdal on the banks of the River Lærdalselva - one of Norway's most famous salmon rivers. Visitors are given an insight into the life history of the Atlantic salmon and the traditions of salmon fishing. A fishing license can be bought at the hostel
HI Borlaug Youth and Family hostel is situated – close by the river - at the crossroad Rv52 (from Gol) and E16 ( from Hemsedal). The area is excellent for hiking and fishing- ask the warden for more information about local tours and fishing. There are also two nearby ski resorts; Filefjell 25 km, and Hemsedal 45 km from the hostel.
The hostel offers different kinds of accommodation, single room, double room and family room. Single bed in a multi-bedded room (sharing with people of the same sex) is also available. Good self catering facilities.
