Gråskallen is the bare top over Longgoto between Husnes and Herøysundet, with a large cairn at the top. Nice view!

MapFolgefonna National Park
Start and stopping pointBy the forest road 50 meters south of Herøysundet water plant.
ParkingLeave the highway at north or south and follow the smaller road to the parking lot by the community hall in Bringedalsbygda. There is a drivable road to the water plant, but it is difficult to park along the side of the road. The best place to find a parking place is by the community hall.
MarkingInformation Board by the starting point. There are T markings and signs from the forest road 50 meters south of the water plant.
GradingBlue Moderate hike, two boots according to the DNT system.
Difference in altitudeApprox. 50 – 440m AMSL
Estimated timeApprox. 2.5 hours round trip
Recommended adviceThe route goes along a quality forest path which can be marshy in some places. The marked round trip via the idyllic Lake Hellvikvatnet is recommended; the route here is slightly steeper.
OverviewFrom the parking lot by the community hall 500 meters south along the highway to a sign pointing up the farm road to the left. From here, 500 meters to the beginning of the marked route right above the river by the water plant. The route has an easy incline in forest terrain and eventually flattens.
The last short trek goes up the rock faces to the cairn. Gråskallen is the bare top over Longgoto between Husnes and Herøysundet, with a large cairn at the top. Many will be surprised at how Husnes looks from this perspective. There are few spots in the area where you may have such a view of islands, coves and fjord landscapes at the west and north side of Hardanger Fjorden.
You can enjoy a panorama from Varaldsøy to Halsnøy and the ocean.
