Holstad Gård - farm shop

Holstad Gård (farm) is run by us, Silje and Carl Sæther. Our farm is situated at Holstad in Namdalseid, ca. 3.3 km. south of Namdalseid centre, right by Fv.17. Holstad is a small-scale arable and sheep farm. The sheep breed is Old Norwegian Short Tail Landrace (gammelnorsk spælsau) one of the oldest breeds in Norway. After studying and working in Trondheim, the Lofot Islands and Andenes we moved back to Carl`s home farm in 2012. We had a small dream of opening a farm shop and after much planning and work this dream was realised in the autumn of 2020.

Farm Shop

We sell wool and wool products, sheepskins and meat from the farm`s flock. We also sell products from other local producers eg. Icelandic baking by Gudny from Bonhaug Farm and some glass decorations made by Ane Altin at Lensmannsgården. Other local food also available.

We are keen on re-cycling and the shop has been fitted out with metal bars, piping and lights from when the farm was a dairy farm as well as second-hand doors, cupboards and shelves. We also grow flax which after being dried are made into bouquets.

The range and choice of products will vary depending on the season. We only use meat from animals that have grazed outside for at least 2-3 months ie. there will be a greater choice of meat in the autumn and winter. In the shop you can pack any presents you may have bought. Mainly self-served farm shop, give us a ring if you wish to pay by card.
