Horseback riding to Uburen in Forsand
Fossanmoen Islandshestsenter arranges horseback riding to Uburen in Forsand. The trip takes 3-4 hours and you are rewarded with fantastic views at the top.
For the trip to Uburen, Fossanmoen's instructor will find you a helmet and a suitable horse. Then you will be given information about the trip and shown how to handle your horse.
The first part of the ride takes place on the road. This gives time for both rider and horse to warm up before entering the more hilly terrain. The trail is steep, rocky and long. You will straight away appreciate the talent an Icelandic horse has in such a challenging environment. Once on top the lands flattens out and at 400 metres above the fjord you get the feeling of the high mountains. The views here are over the hamlet of Rossavik, a picturesque farming community located on the inner part of Høgsfjord. The next section of trail is undulating and goes up to 416 metres high, from here there are views over Boknafjord, the mouth of Lysefjord, the villages of Forsand, Ims and Høle and the many islands. In very fine weather one may also see Stavanger and the distant islands of Karmoy and Bokn.
Even though the terrain is demanding, the instructor takes great care to allow everyone time to rest. The aim is to give all the riders an unforgettable experience.
When booking the tour, give them some information about your riding ability and experience.
