Enjoy island hopping as a daytrip or book accommodation and take the trip over several days. By taking the trip over several days you get more time to enjoy the landscapes and atmosphere of this wonderful archipelago.

The trip starts with Norled Express boat from Bergen to Krakhella in Solund. Solund is the westernmost municipality in Norway, beautifully located by the mouth of the famous Sognefjord. Once on Krakhella, get on the local bus to Hardbakke, the centre of Solund. The bus stops by the harbour, where the post-boat “Stjernsund” awaits to take you to the islands of mid-Solund.

The captain will be your local guide while he takes you safely through the quiet waters, where you may be lucky enough to catch sight of wild coastal animals such as sea eagles, seals and porpoise. The post boat is very important for the community in Solund. Some of the islands do not have road connections, and the post boat connects them with Hardbakke, the centre of the municipality.

The boat stops where there are mail deliveries to be made or passengers to pick up. Last stop in Solund is the charming fishing village of Gåsvær. Here the boat stops for 30 minutes, and you can have a look around the island. After your stop at Gåsvær the trip continues over a stretch of open sea to Bulandet in the municipality of Askvoll.

You have about 2,5 hours for sightseeing at Bulandet, before the bus departs for Værlandet. Go to the viewpoint of Halsøhågen for a splendid overview of the islands, visit Bulandet Temapark and study their exhibit of traditional island life, or enjoy a meal at one of the local cafés. On the very western edge of the island there is also an art gallery, where you can purchase a souvenir from your trip.

It is possible to rent a bike instead of taking the bus to Værlandet. Then you can explore the beautiful road that connects the islands with 6 bridges. You can rent a bike at Bulandet and hand it in at the shop at Værlandet, located by the pier where you take the ferry to Askvoll. Biking from Bulandet to Værlandet takes about 1 hour, and on the way you can visit the idyllic village of Værøyhamna where Norwegian Seabird Centre is located.

Bicycle Rental:
At the Joker store at Nikøy harbor on Bulandet you can rent a bike for NOK 100. You can pay cash (NOK) or by card. They have bicycles for both adults and children.

Following the signs withto "Askvoll", you will arrive at the pier on Værlandet, where the trip continues by ferry. Please return the bike at the Joker store.
