Jakob Sande-tunet

The popular poet Jakob Sande was born and brought up in the bellringer´s house in Dale. Here you can get information and a tour of the poet's footprints.
At Jakob Sande-tunet, you’ll find Bestefarsstaua (Grandfather’s cottage), the Centre for Storytelling, the old schoolhouse, the barn, and the main house with a writer’s residence and accommodation.
We open for the summer season on 21June and stay open until 10 August.
During this period, our summer hosts will welcome you at the schoolhouse Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 16:00.
Guided tours take place Tuesday to Friday at 13:00, starting with a visit to Jakob Sande’s birthplace in Bestefarsstaua, followed by the commemorative monument, his gravesite, the other houses in Klokkargarden, and the old schoolhouse.
You can also buy music and books by and about the poet, as well as storytelling literature, T-shirts, and postcards. There’s a summer exhibition, literary salons, tourist information, bookshop, and a café.
Dates to remember this summer:
18 June – Opening of the summer exhibition "Words through Letters" in Bestefarsstaua. Open whenever the schoolhouse is open.
18–20 June – The Storytelling Academy
You’ll also find a cultural walk in Jakob Sande’s footsteps online and on information boards around the site.
