Lustadstua (Lustad Cabin)

Experience the enchantment of mountain life on the tranquil shores of Lake Lustadvatnet, nestled at the gateway to the Blåfjella-Skjækerfjella National Park. Recharge your spirit with both short and extended hikes in the area, or perhaps try your hand at fishing for your own dinner.

Lustadstua is a generously spacious cabin that can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people, featuring 2 bedrooms and ample floor space. The cabin is enveloped by an expansive, level outdoor area that includes a campfire site, a floating pier, a boat, and a designated swimming area. Positioned right at the water's edge of Lustadvatnet, the cabin offers an idyllic setting.

Accessible for All:
During the summer season (please note, not in winter), both the cabin and the outdoor area are adapted for accessibility, allowing you to drive your car all the way to the cabin throughout the year.

Superb Fishing and Hiking Opportunities:
The cabin serves as an ideal base for unforgettable encounters with nature. Positioned at the entrance to the Blåfjella-Skjækra National Park, you can enjoy leisurely hikes along a continuous trail leading to the national park or explore winter trails on a snowmobile. The area features a plethora of well-marked hiking paths, including one that leads to Norway's Geographical Centre by Lake Skjækervatnet.

Boat Access:
When you rent Lustadstua, you gain access to a conveniently located boat by the pier. Fishing is permitted free of charge, with no fishing license required, in all of Steinkjer Kommuneskoger's lakes. Fishing nets and ice drills are thoughtfully provided within the cabin. Additionally, a dog cage is available inside the cabin.

Reserving the Cabin:
You can easily make reservations for the cabin online through Inatur.

Key Pickup:
The cabin key can be obtained from the reception at Steinkjer Town Hall, Steinkjer, during regular hours from 08:00 to 15:30. Arrangements for key pickup outside of these hours, including at night, can be made by prior arrangement.

Directions to the Cabin:
From Steinkjer city (City Hall), head towards Ogndal on RV 762. Continue on this road until you reach the cabin, with the final stretch along Lustadvatnet being on the county road. The journey to the cabin is straightforward, with a distance of 44 km from the city center.
