A popular hiking destination in the Kopervik area is Søre Sålefjell (132 m.o.h.) with a great panoramic view. There are several alternative route choices:
Alternative 1 (1.5 hours): Drive to Sørstokke (Gruvevegen/Håvelievegen) approx. 2 km south of Stokkastrand school. It is best to park down by the main road next to the bus stop. Take the main road a little north of the bus stop and follow the road in a westerly direction. Along the gravel road to Sålefjellet, nice information signs have been set up that tell about the area and the mines. We continue on the path along Igletjødn and steeply up towards Søre Sålefjell.
Alternative 2 (4 hours): Drive towards Åsebøen Stadium and Liarlund for parking. Follow the gravel road as far as it goes, turn left at the first crossroads. After a short distance in beautiful forest terrain, we come out into more open landscapes with bogs and heather. We follow the path (K for Karmøymarsjen) south to Melstokkevatn and follow the path up to the mountain.
