Small accommodation gems
If you wish to experience special and unique accommodations, Rjukan has loads to offer! Here is a list of some small accommodation gems.
The Saboteur Cabin in Fjøsbudalen
You can now stay in a true copy of the original cabin where the saboteurs of the Heavy Water War spent the night before the attack at Vemork! The cabin is built on the walls of the original cabin, and guided tours are offered to the cabin.
Selstali Seter
In Gausdalen by the foot of Mount Gausta lies the idyllic mountain farm, Selstali Seter. Travel back in time with your family and live as they did in the olden days in the farm’s nice log cabins. Here you can stay close to the animals and take part in the everyday life of the farm.
Herlaugstaul, Håvardsrud Seterliv
Experience the Herlaugstaul homestead at Håvardsrud Seterliv in Skirvedalen, approximately 45 minutes from Rjukan. Here you can stay and live as they did in the olden days, with care and feeding of the animals, and without modern facilities. Håvardsrud Seter is the perfect place to find peace, while the children have fun with the animals.
Fjellblikk Café and Accommodation
At Fjellblikk Café and Accommodation you can stay in cosy cabins in Hovin, east in Tinn Kommune. Fjellblikk is a charming place with a great view towards Mount Gausta and in close proximity to Blefjell.
Glamping at Sandviken Camping
Experience camping luxuriously with glamping – or glamorous camping – at Sandviken Camping. Here you can stay in cosy decorated luxury tents with an amazing location by the waterfront of idyllic lake Tinn.
Rjukan Admini Hotel
Stay in historical surroundings at Rjukan Admini, erected by Norsk Hydro’s founder Sam Eyde in 1908. The building is considered to be one of the most beautiful wooden Art Nouveau styled buildings in this country. Until 2015, only specially invited guests were able to enjoy this unique building, but now you can also live like the royals!
