Excellent round-trip. Popular amongst local cyclists. Anti-clockwise, the route is relatively easy with a steep incline midway. In the other direction, the elevation gain is more spread out.
With Lillehammer Station as starting point, ride north along Kirkegata and Fåberggata – past Storhovet. Follow route 312 (Gudbrandsdalsvegen), or cross the river by Fåberg and take route 319 (Hunderfossvegen) to Øyer town centre.
From Øyer, continue on route 312 past Tingberg and the Øyertunellen tunnel, and then ride along the river to Tretten. Turn onto route 254 towards Gausdal, and start the 380-metre climb to the Musdal summit. Continue along route 254 down to Segalstad Bru. Turn right onto route 255 towards Vestre, and then turn right onto route 315 (Baklivegen) by the sports ground. Follow route 315 to Jørstadmoen, and turn right onto route 253 (Jørstadmovegen).
Continue south to Vingnes, across the Vingnesbrua bridge, and up Bryggevegen back to the start.
Excellent ride in either direction, but the most common is anti-clockwise as described above. In the other direction, the route has a relatively long, steady incline to the top and flattens out towards the end.
