Trip to Stigen Farm, Aurlandsfjorden

This is a short but steep trip that gives an intense experience of the wildness, nature and beauty of Western Norway. Stigen farm is private and allows group visits by reservation, but on a trip like this you go up to the farm and stay outside the fence, can sit on a camping table and eat food, enjoy and photograph the view.

How to get there:

The trip starts at the wharf down in the Aurlandsfjord and you have to get here by boat from Aurland or Undredal. The trip itself goes up steeply on a path which in some places has been dug into the mountains, in some places is secured with wire. No climbing experience is required. The path is not directly scary but not suitable if you get dizzy easily. Upwards, the view will be magnificent both in and out of the fjord and in some places it goes to the edge of a gorge. The trip up takes just under an hour.

There is also an upper Stigen Gård which is a short walk further up.
