Press and PR

Welcome to Visit Norway's PR desk. We arrange press trips and PR-events, and collaborate with the international press to promote Norway throughout all seasons.

Who we work with

Press and PR: We work with international press, from newspapers to magazines (both print and digital), as well as radio and TV.

Social Media: We have a separate Social Media desk. If you are a content creator, please visit our Social Media section.

Markets: We have a strong focus on sustainability, and mainly work with the press in nearby markets like Scandinavia and Europe. Other markets are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Who we collaborate with: Due to a high volume of requests and limited resources, unfortunately we can't collaborate with all media.

We prioritise commissioned journalists and media with larger audiences in our key markets.

How we work

Press trips: We cover selected individual press trips and organise a few group trips a year.

How to contact us: We prefer to be contacted through the pitch form below.
Please contact us well in advance – a minimum of one month before departure.

Collaboration: Visit Norway normally covers transportation costs and puts you in contact with local destination companies and partners. They usually cover local costs such as food, accommodation, and local activities. We do not sponsor family members or others joining your press trip unless they have an editorial angle in your story.

You have to book you own ticket: We do not have the resources to organise and/or book your tickets, or tend to practical details such as lost luggage, delayed flights, etc. You will need to book your own trip to/from Norway and then we will reimburse your expenses. Reimbursements will normally be paid within a week. Other costs may be covered if agreed upon in advance. Please save receipts and make sure to follow our instructions.

Travel insurance: You need to have travel insurance and be able to travel independently.

Pitch your story

In order for us to consider your pitch, you need to meet our criteria. Please confirm that:

  • You represent a media outlet in one of our primary target markets: Europe and Scandinavia. Other countries will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • No short-term inquiries please. You need to contact us at least one month prior to your trip, have done the required research, and present a strong idea and/or plan for your visit.
  • You must have one or more commissions agreed upon before you travel to Norway.
  • The content will be published within a reasonable time frame after your visit, preferably within 3-6 months.
  • All sponsors, including Visit Norway, must be mentioned in some form.
  • You will cover one or more of these preferred topics: food, adventure, art and architecture, city breaks and activities. Other topics and events can also be discussed.
  • You write for a newspaper, magazine, or other media outlet, print or online. Radio and TV can also be considered.

If you answer yes to all of our criteria, please click the link below and fill out the press form and we will consider your pitch.
