None of the picnic areas have a kiosk or any other place to buy food. On the other hand, they are perfect for enjoying a packed lunch in beautiful surroundings.
We hope that you will help us keep the premises clean and tidy – by throwing the waste in the rubbish bins.
The large picnic areas have separate toilet facilities.
For those who need to empty the campervan toilet tank, the only place adapted for this is Skarsmo, between Bykle and Hovden. However, if you stay at a camping site, some of them have dump stations.
The website bobilplassen.no/tommestasjoner contains an overview of all public dump stations in Norway.
Throughout the valley of Setesdal there are EV charging stations.
A Tesla-only charging station is located in Bygland, next to the glassblowers workshop Glashytta and the tourist information office.
The website ladestasjoner.no contains a map and detailed information about the various charging stations.
The river Otra starts flowing in the mountains around Hovden. With no pollution sources, neither from industry nor farming, it offers good water quality all the way to its outlet in Kristiansand. On warm summer days the water temperatures are quite pleasant, even at a high elevation. And there are absolutely no stinging jellyfish!
Go rafting in the river Otra, find a nice beach in Bygland or splash around with the kids in Hovden Aqualand. Explore the climbing forest in Evje, the steep mountains and the new via ferrata in Valle or try activities such as mountain biking, go-karting or bowling. Enjoy the great outdoors - go fishing in the river or hike the beautiful mountains in Setesdal.
The Setesdal valley has century-long traditions in the silversmith's craft and folk music. The beautiful minerals are of course, even older. The most recent attraction, however, is the elk park Elgtun in Bygland.
