Are you ready for a challenge?

To move boundaries and feeling capable of doing something you didn't think you could, brings a childish joy. Oppdal offers a wide specter of action-filled activities to choose from. Join us for a challenge!

The natural elements in Oppdal allow for challenging and fun outdoor activities for all ages. Canyoning, river rafting, climbing, paddling or zip line are all excellent alternatives to classic pastimes like hiking and mountain biking. Many companies in Oppdal offer organized activities, whether you wish to go for a wet ride on the river, or fly high above the ground on a thrilling ride on the zip line.

River rafting on the river “Driva” is a popular summer activity in Oppdal. In fact, in 2017 Driva was named the best place to go river rafting in Mid-Norway. You are welcome to take a seat in the boat and let the stream lead you down the rapids and through the canyons of this exciting river. The river offers a choice in levels of difficulty, whether you are an expert or a first timer. Opplev Oppdal offers guided trips down the river through the whole summer season.

The river hides deep canyons and spectacular cauldrons- great for playing in. This activity is called canyoning and suits everyone- from grown-ups to children.  Oppdal has a variety of places perfect for it. However, “Festajuvet” is best known for its dramatic and unique canyoning.

If you are more into the dry scene, fear not. Oppdal has many areas great for rock climbing. The area by Ishoel is the most popular. This area was developed by climbers in the 1990’s. The crag is easily accessible and stays relatively dry. Climbing season in Oppdal usually starts around Easter and lasts until October. For learning more about the different climbing areas in Oppdal, check out the Oppdal Rock Climbing Guide for more information.

Do you enjoy the feeling of air underneath you? If you do, the different zip lines in Oppdal are worth checking out. You can get your limits tested at Åmotsdalen Gard or at Villmarksleiren. The zip line in Åmotsdalen takes you across the valley while hanging 100 meters above ground. In Villmarksleiren, you will cross the river canyon hovering 30 meters above ground.

Oppdal offers unforgettable experiences.
