Marvin Kuhr got into photography through travelling and gained a following after posting his work online. He has been to Norway more than a dozen times and still can't get enough of the unique landscapes.

"What keeps bringing me back is that every part of the country feels completely different and offers new landscapes to experience and photograph", says Kuhr.
He has been fortunate enough to be able to combine his passion for travel and landscapes into a living. Most of his time is spent outside looking for remote places, especially during sunrise and sunset.
"Landscape photography allows me to slow down and fully experience a place, instead of just passing through it. I enjoy the quiet atmosphere and the connection to nature that comes with it", explains Kuhr.
He has visited several parts of the country, and appreciates the peaceful atmosphere and the opportunity to experience fjords, mountains, glaciers, lakes, waterfalls, lakes, sandy beaches, and coastal roads all within a single trip.
Eastern Finnmark
One of his trips took him all the way to the top of Norway, where reindeer roam freely in Arctic nature.

Following the coastline
Kuhr began the trip in Kirkenes, a small town in eastern Finnmark. From there, he drove along the coastline for about a week, stopping at different fjords, villages, and viewpoints along the way.
He visited the world's northernmost mainland lighthouse, Slettnes Lighthouse. It's close the the village of Gamvik in Finnmark, and you can even stay overnight in the same accommodation where the lighthouse keepers used to live.
Another highlight was the North Cape, Europe's northernmost point. This is where you can stand atop a 307-meter-tall cliff that plunges into the sea and marvel at its rich birdlife.
His road trip ended in the town of Hammerfest after plenty of stops along the way, as driving gave him the freedom to explore both the culture and the diverse landscapes in depth.

Inspired by Norway
"Eastern Finnmark felt very connected to nature and wildlife, which made the whole experience feel very special. The northern summer light also created amazing conditions for photography almost all day long", says Kuhr.
The small fishing villages and the reindeer really caught his eye. However, Northern Norway isn't the only part of the country that has been highly inspirational for him.
"Two of my favorite areas are the Helgeland coast and Hardangerfjord. Helgeland has an incredible mix of islands, mountains, glaciers, and beaches, while Hardangerfjord offers beautiful waterfalls, glaciers, and endless outdoor opportunities".
His adventures in Norway are far from over.
“I’d still love to explore more remote mountain regions and spend more time on multi-day hikes in less visited areas. I’m also interested in discovering more islands and coastal regions in the north of Norway. ”

Photography tips
"My biggest advice is simply to photograph as much as possible and try different subjects and styles. That’s the best way to improve and figure out what you personally enjoy photographing most", says Kuhr.
When he comes to Norway he usually brings a mix of wide-angle and telephoto lenses. The wide-angle lenses are great for landscapes, fjords, and coastlines, while telephoto lenses are useful for wildlife photography. Kuhr also tries to keep the setup relatively lightweight, as the locations often require a bit of hiking or long days outdoors.
"For landscape photography, light is very important. Sunrise and sunset are usually the best times because the light is softer and the locations are often less crowded. It also makes it much easier to capture calm lakes, reflections, and atmosphere in a photo", explains Kuhr.
