See the king’s speech that went viral

“Norway are girls who love girls, boys who love boys and boys and girls who love each other”.

This year, King Harald commemorates 25 years on the Norwegian throne.

During that time – that is, since the early 90s – the country has seen a lot of changes, both when it comes to standard of living and our lifestyles.

For some, the changes may seem scary – but for King Harald, what constitutes being “a Norwegian” has to be constantly redefined.

That was the main point in a speech he held during a garden party outside the Royal Castle on September 1. The speech has been a major hit in social media in Norway, with over two million views and 20.000 shares on Facebook.

See for yourself here, where the broadcaster NRK has published the video with English subtitles.
