Skiing in Norway

White magic awaits

Feel the flow!

When the mighty mountains and valleys of Norway are covered in snow, there’s only one thing to do: swap your shoes for ski boots.

Go alpine skiing and feel as free as a bird when you hit the slopes!

Our best ski resorts are known for their combination of family-friendly hills and thrilling descents suitable for more advanced skiers, as well as their awesome conditions and long seasons.

Did you know that the Norwegian currency is historically weak at the moment, meaning that it's actually much cheaper for a lot of tourists to visit Norway now? So what are you waiting for?

Or perhaps you prefer to go with the wind – literally?

Try kiting in the snow on skis or a snowboard!

If you are really confident in your downhill skills, you can add an extra uphill challenge and join a guided ski touring trip!

It’s totally worth the legwork, we promise.

Views like this are the reward!

When it’s time to slow down and take in the scenery, cross-country skiing is perfect.

In Norway, kilometres upon kilometres of prepared tracks wind their way between snow-capped trees and across wide mountain plateaus.

For us, skiing is all about having a good time and enjoying the moment. Many popular ski destinations offer both cross-country skiing and alpine skiing…

… as well as fun things to do without skis if you want to change it up.

So, what are you waiting for?

Go alpine skiing, kiting, cross-country skiing or ski touring!

Safety in the mountains

Norway is an incredible place to explore, with untamed mythical landscapes, mountains, valleys, and fjords. Before you enter the outdoors, get familiar with the nine simple rules of the Norwegian mountain code to help you stay safe.

  1. Plan your trip and inform others about the route you have selected.
  2. Adapt the planned routes according to ability and conditions.
  3. Pay attention to the weather and the avalanche warnings.
  4. Be prepared for bad weather and frost, even on short trips.
  5. Bring the necessary equipment so you can help yourself and others.
  6. Choose safe routes. Recognize avalanche terrain and unsafe ice.
  7. Use a map and a compass. Always know where you are.
  8. Don’t be ashamed to turn around.
  9. Conserve your energy and seek shelter if necessary.
