In Western Norway, along Norway’s dramatic North Sea coastline, lies the Stavanger region. It's a place of striking contrasts, where vast beaches meet majestic fjords and towering mountains.

Ever since oil was discovered in the North Sea, Stavanger has been known as the Energy Capital of Norway, due to its thriving offshore energy sector. Stavanger has consequently become a very cosmopolitan city, with a vibrant culinary and culture scene.

One of the region's greatest charms is how effortlessly you can immerse yourself in nature, with easy access via public buses and boats. The city centre is compact, so you can experience all of its highlights on foot or on wheels.

Explore all the options below, or go directly to:

The colourful street

The locals call it “Fargegata” (the colour street) for a reason!

Øvre Holmegate is lined with unique boutiques and lovely spots to enjoy an outdoor lunch. There are also great photo opportunities, too, of course.

Michelin-starred dining

Stavanger is a true culinary hotspot, with some of Norway's finest restaurants.

Book a table (in advance!) at one of its Michelin-starred restaurants RE-NAA, Sabi Omakase, Hermetikken or K2.
