Fishing locations in Lyngdal

There are many places to go fishing in Lyngdal and Hægebostad both in fresh water and salt water. Lygna is a river 20 kilometres long stretching from Hægebostad in the north to the Lyngdal fjord in the south. It is famous for its salmon fishing and in 2008, it held the record for the largest salmon caught in southern Norway since World War 2. As a result, there is a life size plaque of this fish on the wall at the Lyngdal tourist office.

There are many lakes in Hægebostad where visitors can fish at over 15 different locations but if it is sea fishing you are after, then there is Korshamn or the Hausvik mariner. Here you can rent a boat and take a trip out to the sea and try deep sea fishing.

Deep sea fishing

In coastal municipalities there are excellent opportunities for sea fishing. It is possible to fish both from the shore and from boats. The Shorelines are very rich in fish. Mackerel, sea trout, cod and pollock are the most common species. Successful fishing trips depend on the right conditions and weather, so be sure to check with the tourist office in Lyngdal for further information. The Korshamn and Hausvik areas are the perfect places to launch to commence a sea fishing trip. They are also very scenic locations should you wish to take a walk or have a picnic.

Boat hire

Boat hire is available from Hausvik maritime where you can take a nice trip along the archipelago and relax or go further out to try some deep water fishing. This is very popular, so it is essential to book in advance. Hausvik Maritim 4580 Lyngdal, +47 38 34 72 23
