Kragerø is a small coastal town and a cluster of islands located in Telemark, approximately three hours south of Oslo.
The atmosphere of Kragerø is an attraction in itself. Narrow streets and alleyways spread from the harbour through the town, with galleries and parks within easy walking distance.
Kragerø abounds with opportunities for an active holiday. The surrounding district and the larger islands are ideal for tours on bicycle and scenic boat rides.
The island of Jomfruland offers unique scenery and plenty of fun things to do! Go horseback riding or birdwatching, or visit one of its charming lighthouses.
Kragerø's unique light has inspired many artists, Edvard Munch amongst them. Walk in Munch's footsteps through the streets that gave him inspiration for many of his most famous works!
Another major Norwegian artist, Theodor Kittelsen, was born in Kragerø. He became famous for his drawings of mythical creatures and felt that Kragerø had "fairy tales in every corner". His childhood home in the town centre is now a museum.
In the summer, from June to August, Kragerø is a popular holiday destination for Norwegians. The rest of the year, Kragerø is a calm, charming oasis where you can enjoy popular activities such as kayaking, fishing, diving, and more!

During the holidays, Kragerø transforms into a beautiful, dreamlike Christmas Town with lots of lights highlighting the cosy, narrow streets and traditional wooden houses.

The trail is divided into three distances through Kragerø: Fossing - Helle, Helle - Kragerø and Kragerø (Stabbestad) - Ellingsvika.
