Take a boattrip to the island of Merdø

Enjoy a day at the beach on a island paradise, just a short boattrip from Arendal.

Merdø, one of the islands furthest from the coast, is the most popular daytrip destination. Take your own boat or the local ferry from Arendal to Merdø. On the island there are many beautiful old wooden houses. Narrow paths bring you from Merdøgaard Museum past sandy and pebbled beaches. Bring a picnic basket, or eat at the Summer café.

Attractions in Arendal town

Pollen, the harbor in Arendal

Pollen is Arendal's bustling quayside, the very heart of Arendal. Here you will find fishermen selling crabs, the fish marketpubsrestaurants, along with benches where you can sit down for a rest and feed the ducks. Nothing is like a sunny day down at Pollen.

Tyholmen, the old town

At Tyholmen you find the town museum Klöckers Hus, the old town hall from 1812, the tallest wooden building in Norway among many other things.
