Drammen is situated only 40 minutes from Oslo by car. It is the second largest city in Eastern Norway and is easy to get to by train or by bus. Historically, log rafting and manufacturing have been important parts of its history.

Drammen has won several awards for its urban development. Drive through the spiral-shaped tunnel Spiralen, stroll along Elvepromenaden and explore the region's top-class art museums.

It is also highly recommended to take a road trip to the south along the Drammensfjord, exploring coastal gems like cosy Holmsbu and the beaches at Rødtangen before taking Norway’s shortest ferry ride from Klokkarstua to Svelvik, with its white wooden houses. Stop by fruit farms and the Fossekleiva kultursenter along the way.

The mountains near Drammen are popular hiking and skiing areas. You can also go alpine skiing in Strømsø or Åssiden.

Explore street art and cool venues in the Papirbredden neighborhood, that also houses Gateway Studios, and the renowned Ypsilon bridge by the Elvepromenaden river walk, where you also find beach coves and nice eateries.

Spiralen, or the spiral, is considered one of the top ten greatest tunnels in the world and is actually hidden underground. Drive in circles, six times around your own axis!

By car
Drammen is a region with well developed infrastructure. The main artery is the E18, which stretches from Oslo through Drammen and all the way to Kristiansand in the south.
Note that the E18 is a toll road if you drive into Oslo.
The RV23 and E134, the two other main motorways in Southern Norway, also meet in Drammen.

By plane
Oslo Airport Gardermoen and Torp Sandefjord Airport are both international airports that are less than a 1-hour drive from Drammen. Oslo Airport is the major nexus for air travel in Norway, and has excellent connections for both foreign and domestic flights.
From Oslo Airport you can catch Flytoget directly to Drammen.

By bus

By boat
Drammen is not far from Oslo, which has ferry connections to Fredrikshavn and Copenhagen in Denmark, as well as Kiel in Germany.
Sandefjord is just a 1-hour drive from Drammen, and offers daily ferry services with Color Line and Fjord Line to Strömstad in Sweden.
From Larvik near Sandefjord, there is a ferry service to Hirtshals in Denmark.
By train
Several lines stop in Drammen, including trains from Oslo to Bergen, Kristiansand and Stavanger, making this one of the busiest stations in Norway.
The airport express train Flytoget has a direct connection to Oslo Airport. You can also take the somewhat cheaper local train, which takes a bit longer.
