Halfway(ish!) between the North and the South lies Trondheim, a beautiful city full of friendly locals, called Trøndere in Norwegian. Here, Viking history meets a young, creative vibe. The city is home to the iconic Nidaros Cathedral, a national treasure, while the state-of-the-art museum PoMo is one of several experiences that has put Trondheim on the cultural map.

The city is also home to two Michelin-starred restaurants: Fagn, known for its inventive Nordic cuisine, and Speilsalen, at the elegant, listed Britannia Hotel. It’s no surprise that international culinary experts named Trøndelag – the county in which Trondheim is located – the European Region of Gastronomy in 2022 – the first time the title was awarded to a Norwegian region.

    The Other End is part of a wave of up-and-coming indie and Americana artists in Norway. In 2023, they made their debut with the album The Sun Will Do You Good, They Said, which received rave reviews in the Norwegian press. Dagbladet gave it a 6, calling it a "sensational debut." Last year, The Other End returned with the album Core Values. Popklikk named the album the best Norwegian release of 2025. Musikknyheter called it “.. one of the best Norwegian albums of the fall.” They also played a support concert at Moskus, which was one of last year’s most pleasant surprises! The single Peeking Over the Top was A-listed on NRK P3 Musikk throughout the fall and was even the most played song on Stjernepose on P3 Musikk that season. Core Values is about being caught between roles, always a little in the wrong place. Inspired by UX designers with rap careers, haiku poets with laptop bags and bank jobs, artists balancing creativity and everyday life. The Other End has already played at Øyafestivalen, SXSW (Austin, Texas), New Colossus Festival (New York), as well as a number of concerts in Norway and abroad. The duo consists of Ida Knoph-Solholm and Alexander Breidvik. The concert is a mix of sitting and standing, if you want to sit you should get there early. No seat reservations!

After a very rough start and an unmatched work-ethic, he managed to get touring the USA from east to west coast every year since. The hard life of a young touring artist formed not only his down to earth character, but also his view of real life in today's society. His outstanding talent of songwriting is nowadays well respected within the industry and so is not only his own music growing, but also his international fanbase!     Bumblebees do an important job for nature and us humans. Get to know them better on a bumblebee walk in Ringve Botanical Garden. Join a bumblebee expert in search of bumblebees on a tour of Ringve Botanical Garden. The bumblebee walk starts with a little bumblebee theory before we begin the walk. Here we will carefully catch bumblebees with a net, observe and identify their species before releasing them back into the wild. Maybe we will find some other cool insects too? The migrations will vary throughout the hopping season. The very first ones will feature bumblebee queens, in June they are teeming with new, energetic workers, while in August we find both new queens, tired workers and some males with yellow whiskers. Why are bumblebees so important and why are they endangered? Many of the food plants we eat depend on bumblebee pollination, and we would be in a bad situation if bumblebees were to disappear. Today, several bumblebee species are threatened with extinction because we humans have changed the landscape and their habitats. We have a responsibility to take care of bumblebees. They need food and a home, preferably in the form of a bumblebee box or a mouse hole. We will also talk about this during the bumblebee walks. Current weekdays for hopping walks are Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays in the period June 14 - September 6. Announcements will be made a few days in advance. NB weather conditions! An advertised tour may be cancelled if bad weather is reported on the same day at the time of the tour. (See the Facebook event on the same day if in doubt.) Bassist Jonathan Bremer and pianist Morten McCoy have played together since childhood, and share a musical language so intuitive that it hardly needs words. Their music is less about excelling individually, and more about listening together. Instead of improvising solos, they improvise entire compositions. The songs unfold there and then, in the moment, without a fixed plan. The result is concerts with a rare intimacy, where the music becomes a form of wordless communication between stage and audience. “We are very flow-oriented. Only when the ego disappears does there become space for what is going to happen,” says Jonathan Bremer. The duo formed in 2012 and debuted the following year with Enhed. Since then, they have built one of the most distinctive voices in modern Danish music, with albums such as the critically acclaimed Natten and the fresh Kosmos, their sixth. Jonathan Bremer has previously been named musician of the year at the Steppeulven award, and internationally, the duo is signed to the renowned record label Luaka Bop, founded by David Byrne. Now Bremer/McCoy is coming to Ladekaia. In the intimate surroundings, the music comes to its full potential: subdued, present and full of calm.     "And Still I Sing" is a powerful and moving documentary offering insight into the lives of young women in Afghanistan who are fighting for freedom and the right to express themselves through song. The film demonstrates how courage, hope, and solidarity can challenge oppression, even under extremely difficult circumstances. This is the story of three Afghan women who take up the fight for their rights using music as a weapon. Pop star and activist Aryana Sayeed mentors two aspiring young singers: Zahra Elham and Sadiqa Madadgar. While both are competing in the popular TV show *Afghan Star*, their lives become increasingly difficult as the Taliban strengthens its hold on power. The documentary provides a glimpse into the dreams and the immense risks these women face by stepping into the public eye; it also illustrates how music becomes a symbol of freedom, identity, and resistance against rigid social norms. All the women were forced into exile after the Taliban seized power. Elaha Soroor—who is performing a concert at Dokkhuset with Kefaya on Thursday evening—is a former contestant in the competition herself and was forced to flee to London. This screening honors her and all Afghan women who fight for their rights and freedom every single day—nothing should be taken for granted!

Red Trondheim invites you to an open meeting about the fight against bullying on August 31st at 6:00 PM at Habitat. The purpose of the meeting is to raise the level of knowledge, highlight system failures and develop concrete political demands to move forward in the work against bullying. There will be a short introduction with Reidar Olaf Østensen, who has come forward publicly with his own bullying story. After the introduction, there will be a panel discussion between forensic psychologist Svein Øverland, lawyer Leif Strøm, and Member of Parliament for the Red Party Remi Sølvberg.
