Walking with alpacas

Because woolly walking buddies are the best!

Hello there! Who are you?

Arthur

Baby alpaca from Sørum

... just follow the sign down the road. The older boys are waiting for you there, and they love hiking!
Uh, did somebody say... hiking? Now? We just got our summer cut!

Sindre

Alpaca from Sørum

Oh, well. We just need our halter first. Can you help us put it on?
Thank you! Now, let's hang out and wait for the rest of the group. You see, we alpacas are herd animals, so we prefer to be together in large groups.
That's better. Let's take a slow walk in the nearby area. Our human family will tell you everything you need to know about us as we go.
By the way: Did you know that it's possible to go walking with us in winter as well? Just remember to bring warm clothes.

Alvin

Alpaca from Sørum

We already have a nice coat of wool, so we are good. The climate here in Norway is actually pretty perfect for us alpacas, and we love to be outside all year round.

Walking with alpacas has become super popular in Norway. No wonder, just look at these cuties!

This is an outdoor activity suitable for almost everyone, including families with children.

One really cool thing about alpaca walking is all the fun facts you get from your guide.

The farms have dedicated guides, who love to tell you everything about their history, the local area, and ...

... the precious alpaca wool!

Some farms, like here at Sørum outside Oslo, also have a shop where you can purchase some soft, warm wool clothes after your walk. The perfect gift to bring home!

And if you can't get enough of alpacas, why not spend the night with them as well?

Here at Bestebakken Boutique Hotel in the Sognefjorden area, you can!
