Trollstigen-Geiranger scenic route

The Trollstigen-Geiranger route is 104-kilometre-long and runs between Åndalsnes and Geiranger in Western Norway: From Sogge Bru in Romsdalen to Langvatnet near Strynefjellet.

Please note that the road is closed during winter. It's usually open from mid May to October/November. The road may also close at short notice due to heavy rain. Always check the route in advance of your journey. The Ørnevegen road that leads to Geiranger is open all year.

Also: Only park at designated parking areas along the way!

Hairpin bends, mighty waterfalls, rugged mountains, famous landmarks, and a UNESCO-listed fjord all feature on this thrilling and equally breathtaking road trip between Geiranger and Åndalsnes.

Norwegian Scenic Routes: Practical info

Some Norwegian Scenic Routes are quite narrow, especially for caravans and motorhomes. It is only possible to pass oncoming traffic at designated passing points on some stretches. As a result, you might experience queues during the high season in summer.

Certain Norwegian Scenic Routes are closed in winter. Please check nasjonaleturistveger.no/en before you go.

Trollstigen is one of Norway's 18 National Scenic Routes. Each of these routes offers breathtaking views, incredible art installations, and some of the world's best toilets!

The routes take you along the coast and across mountains through some of the very finest scenery in the country.
