From mountains and waterfalls to the architectural masterpiece Sohlbergplassen viewpoint – Rondane is an eldorado for outdoor enthusiasts and road trippers alike.
In Eastern Norway, near the Gudbrandsdalen valley, lies the grand mountain area Rondane.
In summer, hiking paths lead in every direction, but when the snow falls, kilometres of prepped tracks await cross-country skiers. There are plenty of places to stop, and maybe the four-legged locals, like a herd of reindeer, will keep you company?
You’ll get a bird’s-eye view of the area from the mountains. The tallest is Rondslottet, which reach more than 2,000 metres into the sky. Still, the view from more family-friendly peaks is also amazing.
If you want a road trip adventure, the Norwegian Scenic Route Rondane is just what you need, with epic landscape and attractions along the way. You can even feast your eyes on the view that inspired Norway’s national painting at Sohlbergplassen viewpoint.
At the end of the day, you’ll want to put your feet up and relax. The mountain cabins are great for that. They serve super tasty food too, with fresh local ingredients.
