Holmenkollen Ski Festival
This is one of the most prestigious winter sports events in the world, featuring ski jumping, cross-country skiing, and Nordic combined events. Held in Oslo each March, the festival attracts thousands of spectators.
In addition to the competitions, the festival offers a range of activities for visitors, including skiing lessons, guided tours, and cultural events. Visitors can also try their hand at ski jumping on a smaller jump, designed for beginners.
Birkebeinerrennet
This cross-country ski race takes place each March between the towns of Rena and Lillehammer. The race is 54 kilometres long and attracts more than 15,000 competitors every year.
The atmosphere at the Birkebeinerrennet race is electric, with thousands of spectators cheering on the skiers as they make their way through the course. The race is a true test of determination, perseverance, and strength. Those who complete it feel an tremendous sense of accomplishment.
There are also a Birkebeiner foot race and a cycling race during the summer months.
Ekstremsportveko
Ekstremsportveko, also known as the Extreme Sports Week, is an annual event held in Voss, Norway. It is one of the largest and most renowned extreme sports festivals in the world. Ekstremsportveko brings together athletes and spectators from around the globe who wish to participate in (or watch from the sidelines) a wide range of exhilarating activities.
The event takes place in late June, and features paragliding, longboarding, rafting, climbing, base jumping, and much more.
Midnight Sun Marathon
The Midnight Sun Marathon is an annual running event that takes place in Tromsø, a city located in the far north of Norway. It's known for being one of the most unique and picturesque marathons in the world, due to its location and the summer date of the race.
The event takes place in late June, when the sun does not set at all in Tromsø, creating a magical atmosphere with the sun shining brightly throughout the night. The race offers a range of distances, including a full marathon, half-marathon, 10 kilometre race, and a children's race.
Norway Cup
Norway Cup is an international youth football tournament held annually in Oslo, Norway. It's one of the world's largest football tournaments for young players and features teams from all over the globe. The event takes place over a week in late July and has been a prominent fixture in the international youth football calendar since its inception in 1972.
In addition to the matches, Norway Cup offers a range of cultural and social activities, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the week.
Arctic Race of Norway
This is a professional road bicycle race that takes place in Northern Norway every August. The race covers some of Norway's most beautiful landscapes and attracts top-level riders from around the world.
The Arctic Race of Norway is more than just a cycling race: it's s a celebration of the stunning natural beauty and unique culture of Northern Norway. It offers cyclists and spectators alike an unforgettable experience in one of the most stunning and remote corners of Europe.
The Norseman Xtreme Triathlon
The Norseman Xtreme Triathlon in August is considered one of the toughest triathlons in the world. The race starts from the Hardangerfjord, where participants dive off a ferry and swim 3.8 kilometres to shore. The bike leg covers 180 kilometres through challenging terrain, including a climb up the famous "Zombie Hill" - a steep 10-kilometre ascent with gradients up to 10 percent. The final leg of the race involves a marathon run to the finish line, located at the peak of Mount Gaustatoppen, 1,850 metres above sea level.
The race has a unique format, with no aid stations or drafting allowed. Participants are required to carry all their own gear, food, and water, and may have a support crew to assist them along the way.
Oslo Marathon
This is a popular long-distance running event that takes place in September. The course takes runners through the streets of Oslo, passing by many of the city's famous landmarks.
The marathon attracts a diverse range of participants, from elite runners aiming for a fast time to those looking to complete the distance for the first time. The event is open to participants of all abilities and ages and the inclusive atmosphere is a key part of the event's appeal.

Approximately 13,000 players in over 900 teams are judged by more than 250 referees through almost 2,500 matches at Ladesletta in Trondheim. The Clown Run is held every September, with all proceeds going to the Hospital Clowns. In 2026, the Clown Run will be held for the 15th time, join us! The Hospital Clowns work to ensure that children admitted to hospital have a daily life filled with humor, dreams and imagination. At St. Olavs Hospital, the Hospital Clowns are an important bright spot in an otherwise gray hospital day, but they need financial support to continue their work. That's why we students want to give something back to the city that we love, by helping the clowns stay in Trondheim. There will be opportunities to participate in: Children's races (1km), 5km and 10km. Come and join informal and social poker tournaments at Work-Work, with a real beer-on-the-table atmosphere! Every Wednesday we throw a poker tablecloth over the bar tables and set up for an atmospheric competition in No Limit Holdem. The tournament lasts about 6 hours (for those who come the furthest). It is completely free to participate, and the tournament is suitable for both beginners and more experienced players who just want to have a little fun. REGISTRATION : Sign up here! We are aiming for 80 players, but we will take in a few more registered players in case of absence. The first 80 registered players to show up at the venue are guaranteed a place in the tournament from the start, but everyone who has registered will be allowed to play as the first players drop out. “Tour de Trondheim” is an annual traditional orienteering weekend that in 2026 will be held from September 11-13. The races begin with a city sprint on Friday, September 11th with an arena at Buranbanen activity park, before the race moves to the forest starting from Hyllvatnet (Tulluan north) on September 12th and 13th. The races have trails for all ages and experience levels, and have plenty of facilities every day (kiosk, sports shop, toilets, childcare, etc.). Tough race up the rough stone stairway from Fjellveien to Sandvikspilen. Sandviksfjellet is a mountain in Bergen, and one of the traditional seven mountains that surround the city centre of Bergen. The mountain is 392 m high. Are you fit enough and over 12 years of age, you are welcome to participate. It is not necessary to be member of any sports team / organization. The NM-mila is the start of a completely new concept, which will later be named Olavsløpet. This is a race that everyone can participate in - experienced competitive runners and those who want a challenge. Not least, it will be a good workout for the Norwegian Athletics Championships which start the next day! The route will eventually be marked as part of the cityscape in Trondheim city center, and will be named Olavstraseen. Even in Norway's third largest city, this is a route that does not conflict with car traffic. In other words - a perfect route to set new records on Strava! The course is 5 km long, is WA approved, and runs on historic grounds along the Nidelva River. The NM-mile itself is two laps of the course. The start and finish are at Trondheim Stadium. We believe this will be a great day dedicated to running and community!

Did you know that this summer the Society is open all summer? That's right, this year Samfundet will be open for the summer! This means both indoor and outdoor seating at our beloved restaurant Lyche, and the World Cup and other sports in the Daglighallen! Lyche is open from 17:00, Wednesday to Saturday every week from June 5th to August 1st. Here you can have something good in a glass, enjoy the students' house both inside and in our new outdoor seating. The community also has a new menu with different dishes throughout the summer. The daily hall will also be open for all World Cup matches, and other football and sports throughout the summer! Come by alone or with a group!
